Best place to buy a leather suite?

(Or maybe this thread should be called who to avoid...)

    Hi all,

I'm currently looking for a reclining leather suite and have shopped around at a few places including Reids and Cost Price Sofas, however this evening after doing a bit of research it would appear that Cost Price Sofas are dire to deal with (sofas falling apart after one weeks use) very cheap stock from China, poor quality leather etc...

Reids don't seem to be faring much better either with people complaining of in some cases, having to wait more than 10 months for their order, being refused refunds etc.. despite being promised delivery by a certain date.

Anyways, I'm a bit disillusioned now when it comes to furniture shopping - there appears to be a lot of cowboys out there and companies with shocking aftersales service.

I'm planning on spending quite a bit so don't want to get stung with an inferior product nor having to wait 6 months to be delivered a wrong item etc...

Can anyone recommend a reputable seller who has genuine leather as opposed to PU and PVC being passed off as leather, and who has reasonable delivery times and generally won't mess you about? Preferably in the West or in the North?

Anyone have any experiences with DFS? Harvey Furniture?

*Mods - wasn't sure where to post this, thought Consumer Issues might be a starting point as so many here have had crappy experiences with retailers that I thought they may be able to add their 2c for people to see.

    Thanks everyone!

It's not a Consumer Issue in the sense that you do not have a direct consumer issue.

Moved to Interior Design and Decoration.

I can't recommend anywhere specifically, I bought mine in Jim Langans in Liffey Valley about 6 years ago and as fair as I remember it was delivered within 3 weeks but I may have been lucky.

Whatever you do though, pay by credit card. These types of places are closing down all over the place and if you give them cash you have no come back!

    Best of luck sofa hunting.

Yeah Whoopsadaisy, that's something I'm very conscious of too that places are closing left, right and centre overnight, hence not wanting to chance buying from somewhere where I'll be waiting weeks on end where anything could happen in the meantime!

Stella... Mmmmm... sweeties! Sounds like much more hassle-free shopping alright!
