Hi , I have a laptop here with distortion on the screen ...loads of pixels showing up a funny bright orange colour ... I connected it to a monitor and the picture looks fine ... can I conclude from this that it is definitely the screen and not the graphics chip ??

My opinion would be its the monitor, not the gfx card.

My only hesitation is because you gave me the option that it might be the gfx card.

I would tend to agree with Black_Knight, although i have heard of gfx cards going and displaying to an external monitor. What gfx card is it?

Will check what integrated chip it is in the morning . I was fairly sure it would just be the monitor but I wanted some opinions before I decided to try and buy a replacement .

I'd say it's the screen. Also, love the tag line, black_knight. Randy is a legend.

If it's an integrated intel chip then it'll be the screen
