    Hi,
I plan installing an FTA system in the house. There is also a (slim) posibility that we may have sky+ installed in one room only. Leaving the other rooms using FTA.

My question is will sky install their box onto an existing FTA system or insist on their own Dish / LNB?

When your purchasing/installing the FTA system, use a sky minidish and sky LNB and there should be no problem.

By the sounds of it you should use an Quad LNB from the start.

And yes the dish points to the same place for both so should be no prob there either!!!!

make sure you have two cables directly from the dish to where you are putting the sky+ receiver, most sky installers will be happy to have had the work done for them,

    Thanks for the advice guys.

I guess the Quad LNBs are pretty standard with the sky mini-dish these days. But has anyone any experience or comments on the Sky Octo LNB used with a sky minidish?

I would have thought at min you'd need an 80cm min dish to support an octo?

    I need 6 feeds :o

in my experience the Octo works fine on Sky Zone 2 dishes down here in the s of france.(which are also the recommended size in your part of the world). The Sky Octo is not suitable for other types of dish. if going for a 80 cm 'round' dish a standard Octo LNB would be required.

+1 the octo works fine on a zone 2 sky dish, just make sure you use good quality cable.

Cheers guys, the lads in Satworld sorted me out with a zone 2 sky dish and Octo LNB for €80, can't argue with that.

Spent an hour and a half in telescopic digger bucket up the gable end of the house this afternoon, fairly chilly! The setup seems to be working away fine in all rooms. Thanks for the advice & tips.
