Got a pal who's just been paid off work with 15k. He's been asking me what to do with it before he spends it.

He wants a business to set up and run, to make money and just employ himself. He'll go into any industry/game - he doesn't care as he just wants to do his own thing regardless of what it is?

    Thoughts?

Benny, IMO if he goes in with that attitude he is just throwing away money. 15k really isn't a lot of money. Banks aren't going to lend him money if he is going into a new industry with no prior experience/expertise.

Your mate should sit down and figure out what he is good at. Does he have any expertise or skills which he could sell?

Business just isn't as simple as some people think, its not a case of saying I have 15k and want to work for myself, you need to know what you want to do and nobody else can decide that for you.

€15k will set you up with a taxi, as a courier, probably set up a barber shop, photographer, there's plenty of scope even with €15k.

What's your mates interests / what's he good at / What would he like to do?

no matter how much money your mate is putting in he needs to know the market he is going to get into from experience or from alot of research if he wants it to be a success

all i need is 5k..been unemployed for a year now..I could sell him my idea for that.High profit..gauranteed business just the right attitude.or else he could invest in my business and i set him up with supplies
I may be able to offer him a working partnership. PM me if interested.
I have a 15k idea that can involve working for yourself..but you do need to have some business experience...PM me if you want more info

I'm I the only one who gets annoyed with this sort of junk?

OP, your friend would be well advised to do something productive with his 15k (i.e get a bit of education). Because anyone who has the attidute of your friend, it not equipped to become self employed in the first place.

Your friend might want to check out the techniques I outlined in the article below to determine quickly and cheaply if there is a market online for whatever business idea he/she comes up with.

Mod note: This isn't a forum for selling ideas/business' there are plenty of other places on the internet where people go looking for business partners and to sell or buy a business.

Could not agree more with the above. It would be my opinion that the OP should not bother coming back without an idea to put forward and get recommendations on.
Or maybe buy some of that gambling software where you can never lose;)

    Not when it's public information

To the OP, your friend really needs to have some idea of what he wants to do, or at least rule out stuff he wouldn't be interested in or can't do.
