should we in Ireland be able to access this medicine when needed? Or is it best if we let Mary Harney and other experts in this field make these decisions for us...?

If the Government would fork out on research into the drug rather than following the UK in it's kneejerk decision making we'd be a lot better off

We in Ireland can access it whenever we want. It would be nice if we weren't branded criminals though.

you gotta look higher than the puppets of the likes of harney. those in the business of manufacturing cures won't be too happy if it turns out we can just grow them out of the soil. as it is the biggest drugstore in the world is gradually being destroyed in south america

I wouldn't be so quick to judge, Mary Harney looks to have had more than her share of the munchies...

All I know is Rain Man could have been twice as funny had the Dustin Hoffman character been off his tits the whole time.

No. Wrong. There would have been no drama.

We wanted to see him freaking out because he had missed Wopner or People's Court. If he was just being mellow in the back seat looking at his hands it would have been lame.

Just like your life is lame if you do drugs.

    Knowing is half the battle.

The problem with giving autistic kids weed is that they might develop a mental dependency on it. If you take it away from them they'll become violent again and they might become a little nuttier.

    I wish I had autism. :D

Currently working in the area and unfortunatly their is no cure as it is not a diesese. It's simply a syndrome which can be managed/ controlled by interentions both medically or through behaviour but certainly not a cure. Interesting though

Interesting article from yesterday's Sunday Times about research which hopefully may lead somewhere.

but that is not true. Most of us can not access this medicine in the same ways we can gain access to other medicines. Most parents of autistic children have no options if they want to try this remedy. that is the problem.

OK so that's this debate settled then. Thanks for the input. Very interesting stance. reminds me of another failed policy as spouted by Nancy Regan and others....
