    Hi,

For the last week the water in pool that I swim in has been very murky, to the extent that you cant really see the blue line in the lanes, and cant really see if anyone is swimming in front of you at all.. with a very strong chlorine smell.

Is it ok to swim in water like that?

I'd doubt it. Sometimes the water in my pool gets bit cloudy but its usually only for a day or two and there's no strong chlorine smell...

Chlorine restrics your breathing so if you find yourself having trouble breating or coughing a lot, then there's a good chance there's too much. Bring it up with the lifeguard to be sure if you're concerned.

I have found that im coughing a bit more, and am having trouble swimming as many lengths per set that I would have before - although I had put that down to swimming in the evening instead of the morning.

I mentioned it to a couple of the life guards, one of them said that there had been a problem with the chlorine pump but that it has been fixed now and should be back to normal soon.. the other advised me to get a different type of swimming togs if I was alergic to chlorine..

How does that make any sense?

Dunno, I can only imagine he was talking about a wet-suit type yoke.. not sure how that'll help me with my sneezing....

Think i'll skip the swimming for a while until the pool gets a bit cleaner.

On a very basic level if you can't see the bottom then neither can the lifeguards and the pool should close from a H+S point of view.

Advising you to buy a new swim-suit just seems odd.
