Just in relation to members who wish to post info on recent court cases.
Please do not include names or addressess of applicants and if posting copies of news items about such cases please blank out these details.
Its bad enough when the newspapers print this stuff without us doing the same here in a public forum.
Also do not post info on clubs, type of firearms etc.
Remember this.....criminals read these posts aswell.
Abit of discretion is all thats needed.

Thanks for that daveob007; you are of course, correct.

We've had a bit of discussion in the background, and we'll in future edit out identifiable details in items posted in the Press Clippings thread.

Here are the last couple that contained such details:
    #147
    #148

We've added this to the top of the posts:
NOTICE: In the interests of best security practice as advocated by An Garda Síochána, all the Irish shooting representative bodies, and in line with Boards.ie/Shooting forum policy, certain details which may identify an individual firearm owner, their firearms or their security arrangements, have been removed.

...and replaced identifying detail with <SNIP>

The links to the original articles must remain, as Boards.ie legal advisors inform us that correctly attributing sources is an important part of quoting items from external sources.

Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about the media publishing such details in the public domain, but we can at least try not to perpetuate it here.

On balance, and even though we must also include a link to the original, we think it better to continue to quote these articles as they are a very important record of ongoing developments.
