    Hi,

I've been out of work for year.

I gave my P45 into the welfare office when I applied for JSB. If I get a job do I have to go to the welfare office to get a P45 for my new employer?

    Cheers.

Your P45 is not essential. All you need to do is ask your new employer for their employer number. All employers who pay PAYE have one. Contact your regional PAYE office and give them your employer details along with, more obviously, your pps number and they will issue your tax credits to both you and your new employer.

    Hope this helps

    Matt
