Syria, Iran, Jordan and Israel in one go?

Has anyone visited Israel and one of the other mentioned countries in the one trip? After graduation next year (hopefully) I'd like to see all (well lots of) the historical cities in that area of the middle east but wouldn't like to run into massive problems like say, being locked out of one country or another when I've already paid for flights etc.

    Not visiting Babylon? Egypt?

You need to plan it carefully. Whatever about sabre-rattling, Syria and Israel are still technically at war with each other and having a stamp for any one of the countries in other will at least raise eyebrows and potentially result in denied entry.

Iran-Syria-Jordan-Israel may be the most practical route for this.

Few friends of mine were working in Palestine territotry and had to fly into Israel, had a crazy time getting through customs bafter. We asked questions like 'Have you any Arab friends'. They all got through eventually but Israeli authorities made it difficult for them.

I know that Israel apparently now offer not to stamp your passport so you dont have these sort of diffilculties, but still I would be very careful to make sure your up to date with all the do's and dont's in that part of the world.

For some of the mid-east countries if you have a Israel stamp or vice versa there is apparently big problems. Particularly if you have come through Iran and Syria as you mentioned. They are still very much regarded as being in the 'axis of evil' after all.

I did this trip a few years ago except I started in Turkey, then Syria, the Leb, back to Syria then Jordan then Israel- finally Egypt.
It can be done but be aware that you need a double entry visa for Syria to go to the Leb and then back into Syria. This is because you have to backtrack as the Israel/Lebannon borders are closed since the war a while back.

You'll get pulled by the Israeli Defence Forces when they see an Iranian and Syrian visa in your passport for sure. Its no major problems- they'll sit you down for a 30 minute interview- asking Q's such as list all your previous addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc, do you have Syiarian/Iranian friends (absolutely not! ), where did you go in Syria/Iran, etc.
They'll then get you to wait while the secret service check out your story so make sure you tell the truth where you have to and be selective otherwise (ie on knowing any Arab people).

Be patient, the whole process takes a while- 3 hours in my case. Don't get ratty on them as I saw an Italian lad do- they kept him waiting for nearly 10 hours as a result.

But otherwise I'd say take the advise of others here and leave Israel till last.
