Lime in eye

Okay, I'm not asking for medical advice here, but hypothetically speaking, if one was whitewashing a wall with lime and water, and a drop of it accidentally splashed in one's eye, and it stung, then one washed one's eyed thoroughly with water, but it still stung a little after, but they had perfect vision still, would this be a cause for concern? Like could an infection start over time? And is there a cleansing thing that could be done to the eye if one were to go to hospital?
    Hypothetically speaking of course.

hypothetically speaking we'd tell such a person to go and visit a doctor.
