Argos External Hard Drive

Today I went into Argos to buy another 1tb Seagate hard drive (after the first one I bought from Amazon was accidentally broken). Saw on the catalogue that on one page it had the one I was looking for, and on the one right beside it, the same, for the same price, but with a free 4gb memory stick.
Went up to the cashier, everything fine, collection point, and I pointed out I didn't get the free stick. Dude at the desk eventually acknowleged I was meant to get one, but it was out of stock, come back and collect it in 2 weeks. Plank never puts down on the receipt that I didn't collect the free item, so do I have any comeback in-store, or will they try to say I'm lying and trying to get a second one?

its more than likely that they will ignore you when you go back ....or they hope you will forget about going back.

If you can remember who served you and jog their memory (sorry) as soon as possible you might be OK, I've found Argos staff to be very helpful in a similar situation.

Haha, no bother, the lad's name is on the receipt, and he's ginger so I'm sure I'll remember who he is, Thanks both of ye.

When Argos offer free gifts this is processed at the till and therefore your receipt would show you purchased your hard drive for €xx.xx and received the memory card at €00.00. I think you'll find your receipt only shows the hard drive and it should be obvious to the staff in store that you did not recieve the free gift that you were entitled to. Explain your situation politely and I don't think you will have any problem.

The receipt should detail the two items purchased, and should show that you collected only one. (The staff usually initial or circle the collected items). If this is the case, then you should be able to collect the second item.

However, if not the case, then you will be dependent on the assistant's memory, as there is no other proof that you didn't get the item.

Any free item is normally given "subject to availability" too, which means if it's not available, you don't get it.
