KWA M4 gearbox shell question

Just wondering if anyone has experience of replacment gearboxes with KWA M4 receivers.

I have a KWA M4A1 (one of the first bunch) and although it's had feck all use - discovered the dreaded crack in the front of the gearbox.
I am currently trying to source another KWA gearbox shell but looks like it might be difficult or very expensive.

I have a couple of gearboxes which I've tried in the body but just cant get them to fit and dont want to start sawing/grinding/filing unless I have no other options...

Although there's no trades on the body (KWA only ), - I like the build quality, hence, would like to get it back to operation.

The KWA appears to be a complete clone of the TM M4 (with some extra bits of reinforcing) but I've tried both a TM (SR16) gearbox and a VFC (SCAR - with proper selector plate etc) but neither fit (by fractions).

I have a dboys gearbox which I am going to try fit tonight but reckon I'd like to get a 8 or 9mm shell back into it really.

There's a few nice gearbox shells on RSOV, EBairsoft and AirsoftPark but heaven only knows if they would actually fit into the KWA receiver - hence my question - anyone bought one or can recommend one to fit please?

    Thanks in advance:)

    Howya Aido,
I did exactly this a few weeks ago for Roguetrooper and it was a pain in the face to get stuff to fit in. i got it working in the end but it takes a bit of drilling/grinding etc.

The rear receiver pin doesn't line up so you have to drill that out very slightly. also, The original KWA piston wont work in most normal shells as its ever so slightly too wide. the cylinder too could do with replacement as its ported on both sides with a fairly large port and a stronger than usual spring to match.

i cant remember the whole list of things that needed to be done to get it to work really but if ya like, you can drop it into me and i'll sort it out for ya. I have a couple fo shells there from a clean up the other day so i'd say there's enough to get ya back on the road. :)
