so,the dead have risen, society as we know it has collapsed.

Do you turn to [your] God?
    Do you turn away?
    Does it make any difference?.

Religion would get people killed in the event of an outbreak. They would run to their churches or places of worship and the Zs would not take long to home in on loud praying groups.

I guess that would make the Zs a loud preying group.

for me, it wouldn't make a differance. The end result and conculsion is the same. The end is nigh and all that. Pray may make people more comfortable but it's no substitute for major head trauma.

Although I could see holy armies rise from all the religions to take on the "devils" army that would be the undead. Christains,Muslims, Jews and the rest joining forces to erase the threat before they turn on each other.

I don't think it will be much of an issue here but in the states, Europe and middle east I could see it happening. In America heavy armed Christian militia groups are already up and running have training (for traditional war), command structure, the will and equipment. The same would be true for fundamentalist groups in the middle east however they'll find it much easier to deal with the hard ship of societies collapse and if they do make it through any apocalypse which I think they will, would be a real danger to everyone else.

Muslims in Europe being in tight nit community's would probably be quicker to work together and wouldn't wait around for the states services to protect them.

Over all I think religious groups could be very dangerous after the apocalypse. If they think that the Zombies are Gods way of bringing about the end of times then they won't look to kindly on people disobeying Gods plan and surviving.

Religion holds no water in a crisis such as dealing with the undead. Unless of course there's a way of stopping the Z's which there isn't.

Just as useful as a golf club and 100 zombies

Pah, 100 Zomnies, sure that aint nuthin. I would have swung the golf club at least a 100 times by the time I've completed the front 9.

every situation effects everyone differently. there will be those that will abandon faith because of the loss of loved ones. but there will be those that will strive towards religion looking for hope. these will be the first to die. as said above congregations equals death.

there will be the radicals but I dont believe they'll hand;e the stuation well at all. they'll try there best but ignorance towards science will be ther downfall.

religion will mainly feature in the moments before death for hunters. but then again. we saved ourselves :P

    Zombie Jesus!? Theres a thought.
You would have to kill him once every 3 days

Uh.... there's a god? Huh.... helluva thing.

I think religion would serve the same purpose as it does now.

    It gives people either:
    1) Something to falsely cling to or
    2) Something else to blame everything on.

Either way.... yer screwed. Kick back and enjoy the Apocalypse. :D:D:D

In the event of an outbreak it is necessary to turn to religion.
You will be welcomed into the church and we all know they are pretty much zombie proof if barricaded correctly. Strong doors, high windows etc..

The only praying I would be doing would be that my combat shotty doesn't misfire while I'm taking out a hoarde of zombies 4' away from me, with an empty stomach and a craving for my brainjuice like a pregnant woman craves coal or a stoner craves kit kats.

I highly doubt praying (or equivalent) would somehow protect you.

I personally don't have a God to turn to or against anyway.

They may be able to keep Zombies out (as long as they're the medieval stone church the modern churches are just as vulnerable as any other modern building) but it won't be a pleasant place to spend your last few days on earth.

A church will only provide protection against the wind and rain, there will be no way to protect such a large room against the cold. You'll also be trapped rather quickly, The church in our town only has 3 doors, the two main ones and the priests entrance. The priests entrance could be somewhat secured, the main entrance while lovely wouldn't hold out a horde thanks to it's stained glass, the secondary entrance could be secured. It's lack of ordinary windows makes escape difficult.

They are not always Zombie proof, for example, though the windows in my local, old (100+ years) church are higher than normal windows, they would be possible to smash and climb through with a little assistance (leg up/stand on someone/thing). Given that these line all the walls it would be impossible to secure.

Also, if you barricade yourself in, you would be surrounded quickly and you would only have access to very limited supplies.

Since I turned away from "God" years ago it wont make a difference for me.
Other people will though. If I turn into a zombie the first place I'm going to is a church. Easy Pickings.

the last place i would head is to a church - all the Lemmings (including most of my family) would head there and either run out of supplies or be overrun by the hoard

i would also avoid religious people as they are the most likely to go nutty and decide that the zombies were sent by god to purge the human race etc.....

If staying in a large group, religion would be quite effective in keeping up moral. The only danger would be if people would refuse to kill zombies because they consider it violent.
