simple one, what shot gives you the most satisfaction, is it the big long drive straight down the fairway? is it the long putt ? isit stitching the flag with your second ?or other?
for me sad to say its the big drive that puts the smile on my face these days (not hitting enough of them lately)

For me - nailing the pin with my approach shot, or into the hole with same shot - very rare occurance but did happen in match from 80 yds completely intimidated opposition as happened on 3rd hole, jnr 4somes!

Btw - I didn't see it happen and nearly had heart attack when partner told me!

For me it has to be the quality of the irons shot coz at the moment its suck! I do love a big drive but it meanless if i cant hit a simple pitch for my 2nd shot!!! grrrhhhh:mad:

Iron shots for me, especially long irons as that is my weakness, hugely satisfying when I hit a nice 4,5, or 6 iron.

Got to be when you hit an iron or wedge into tap-in range and you know you have a definite birdie.

Its gotta be the long irons for me aswell, no better feeling than striking one right on line at the flag.

Getting it to a few feet from 150-ish yards. Doesn't happen often enough, and when it does it really makes me smile.

Holing a long difficult putt, e.g. a downhill 15 footer sloping right to left. It can give a lot of satisfaction whether its for a birdie, par, and or to save a double bogey!! ;)

The iron that tracks the pin for me. I love the good drive but the iron that looks like it has a chance of going in gives the biggest thrill.

What gives me the most satisfaction is walking off the course or driving home knowing I put in a real good round, thinking to myself well done, that satisfy’s me the most tbh. I like it when a plan comes together!

If talking about a specific shot it has to an iron shot stitched to the pin, that walk to the green is sweet knowing I put myself in a great position to score well.

Difficult as all good shots make me smile.

In consolation place is the bunker shot that spins back on landing.

In third place is the 6 foot putt that goes in for birdie.

A very close 2nd is the drive at a dog-leg to the right which follows the dog-leg perfectly and races down the fairway.

But the best is the wedge that is all over the stick and which lands just short of the pin, bounces past and then zips back towards the hole giving two chances of holing.

for me it's hitting a shot that i find difficult,i had a draw on pretty much every shot
if i can manage to hit a nice fade close ans soft that's what satisfies me

Put my 2nd (Par 4) to the left of the 18th on the fringes the far side of 1st tee box . Had to ask about 12 people to move out of the way while I took my shot over the 1st tee box to an elevated green 20yds away . LW to about 6 inches to a round of applause . I play off 21 so I was as likely to duff and hit someone !! That was satisfaction :D

Im with carnsoreboxer, sticking it to the pin from 100 yards in... Bit of backspin is a nice touch too! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,848 ✭✭✭soundsham

anything from 140yards in hit with a slight fade on it, past the pin by 10-15 feet and watchin it suck back ........;)

For me it's gettting those 20 yard chip shots consistently within 3 feet of the hole. That doesn't happen enough, so when it does it makes my round! :D

Probably putting for me. Holing a tough putt, like a left-to-right one down the hill. Especially if you've been on a good run of holes, maybe miss a green in a tough spot and a decent pitch still leaves you 8 feet for par. Knocking the putt in really keeps the momentum going. A good par save is as good as a birdie. And all of the above goes double if it's a match and the guy his hoping you'll miss. Idiot ;)

it's got to be knocking it stiff with the approach. Hitting a bomber of a drive is great too but hitting it close with the second shot is a great feeling.

Hitting a par four green in regulation ... i.e. a nice 160-170 yard iron to the heart of the green. Can't beat it. I think you can hit a iffy enough drive and still be on the fairway, even a good drive is a little bit 'targetless'. But a nice iron to the green and everyone knows you did what you intended to do and did it well. Getting it on in two on a par 5 would give me equal pleasure if not a little more if it was a sweet 5 wood or something.

Third place would go to a tee shot or fairway shot where you HAD to shape it one way or the other and you did. Nice!

I think you can hit a iffy enough drive with the long and forgiving Titleist 909D2 and still be on the fairway, even a good drive is a little bit 'targetless'. But a nice Titleist Ap2 with Project X 6.0 shaft 7 iron to the green and everyone knows you did what you intended to do with the patented "drop-and-stop" technology of the Titleist ProV1, and did it well. Getting it on in two on a par 5 would give me equal pleasure if not a little more if it was a sweet vintage Titleist 975F 5 wood with Graffaolly ProLite shaft or something else made by Titleist.

Third place would go to a tee shot with the slightly higher launch angle of the Titleist 909D3, or fairway shot with the Titleist 909F2 (played by Adam Scott) where you HAD to shape it one way or the other, with the length and shot-shaping ability of the Titleist NXT Tour, and you did. Nice!

    lol :P

Tossing a short iron high into the air and watching the ball fall majestically to within a couple of feet of the hole.

My putter is red hot at the moment and having been the area where I have struggled the most for the past few years since playing in competitions I have to say it's the most satisfying by a mile. I've been consistently holing almost everything, from 20 yard breaking putts to 8 footers for birdie to 20 foot par putts. Don't know what I can do to keep it going but I hope the feeling of confidence I have lasts into the regular season. For some reason, I honestly believe I am going to hole absolutely every putt I stand over and I more or less have been. Weird game!

For me its a well struck iron shot. Nothing quite like hitting it flush and taking a bit of turf with you. You can feel it in your hands that you've hit it well. Great feeling.

1.hitting mid irons into stiff breezes that drop dead beside the hole (even better if from a height)
2.bunker shots from around the green

    lol :P

:D Thanks Shrieking ... I did put all that in initially but did a quick edit so that I wouldn't be typecast as a titleist diehard!

By the way ... Foregolf for me on the 6th of March and I'm open to anything they might suggest (particularly as I'm beginning to hate my 909 Driver (shock/horror!). However, I did get a glimpse and feel of the new AP2s and it'll take a bit to entice me to something else!! Hmm ...custom 2010 AP2s - now THAT will be !!

For me it has to be sinking a long putt where you'd be happy with a two putt, next to that it'd have to be holing out with a chip and finally there's nothing quite like flushing a long iron stiff.

    Good Topic

for me its either a wedge shot that lands near the hole from around 80-100 yards or else big long drive that splits the fairway.
