As far as I know they use the LD lines Ferry which is a good service. I am planning on travelling with them in July.

Yes, I've used them about half a dozen times. It's a no-frills service but you can't beat the price. All meals are included in the quoted cost. It's not haute cuisine but it's more than acceptable and there is plenty of it.

The only reservation I would have is that there isn't much for older children to do which was not an issue for me.

By the way, I've noticed on the website that a newer larger ferry will be doing the route this year. The older Diplomat boat is in dry dock and may not operate at all this summer.

    Meals are included?

Grub was always included in the fare on the old boat and I haven't seen anything on the website to suggest that this will change on the new ferry.

I don't think there was anything on the website in the past to say that meals were included, so there is an absence of proof either way.

The Diplomat is essentially a freight boat, and takes a few non-freight passengers (people like us) to use up spare capacity. Tourists simply got the same deal as freight drivers, who get their meals for free on all ferries. With a bigger boat, I see the possibility of having separate facilities for freight drivers and the rest of us. We need an input from somebody who has travelled on the replacement boat.

I emailed them a couple of weeks back regarding meals and they confirmed food is NOT included in the fare.
Their reply was very prompt so at least they deserve top marks for answering queries.
