    hi

I'm trying to get a air rifle for hunting. whats my best option to get one. should I join a air rifle club or ???.

I'd like to get a high-powered PcP. not gas or spring powered.

I live in south dublin if that helps  .

If you could tell me what to do to get one it would be very appreciated. oh what's the minimum age to own a air rifle.

Few more questions for you ..........................

If you want to hunt what do you want to hunt and where do you intend hunting ? If you have somewhere to hunt written permission from landowner/s will be reason enough to get certificate.

Which leads me onto why would you join a rifle club if you want to hunt? Getting a firearm for target shooting might not entitle you to hunt with it under the new legislation.

Therefore, my advice get permission from 2-3 farmers to shoot over their land and/or join the local "game" club if you intend hunting and join a target club if you want to shoot targets ;)

You will also need a "safe" as it's a rifle

    Insurance would be advisable too

Minimum age for any firearm in your own right is 16 however your Super may require further conditions if you are under 18 eg parential permission etc.

do you know where any game clubs are?

yeah I'll need to get safe.

would nargc be good for insurance?.

Air rifle is good for these but your ranges are limited to approx 45 yards even with a "high power" pcp. But they are capable in the right hands and very quiet

Be the easiest way to get a licence tbh ask farmers where you live and get them to sign a letter giving you permission to shoot on their land normally 2-3 are required.

not for your area but ring NARGC or ask in your local gun shop they will be able to tell you who to contact

New laws mean you have to but it's better to make sure the rifle is safe

Yes they would but it can only be got through a club individuals can get insurance from "IFA Countryside"

    Have a look a this link ;)
