Civil Engineer-getting chartered.

    Wondering could anyone give me some advice with the following situation.

    Graduated with degree in civil from University in UK, Working since graduating in the UK and presently company are pushing me towards getting incorporated first of all with the ICE and then going and getting chartered.

    What I was thinking is if I could become an ordinary member of the IEI would this automatically qualify me as being incorporated with ICE and thus I could speed up the process in getting chartered.

    Anyone gone down this route or had similar experience.

    my advice would be to get chartered here. Its easier to do than the ICE version. You can then transfer at that grade at a later date.

    Much, much easier to go MIEI -> CEng than IEng -> CEng.

    Definitely go IEI given the choice. You can get CEng MICE pretty much by default afterwards in any case.
