    Hi all,

The background to this story is that my uncle sexually abused me and to the best of my knowledge pretty much every cousin of mine ( about 20 in total some younger than me but the majority older in some cases by 10 years )

The story as such broke many years ago when one of the older cousins told her parents. The guards were called and it was decided that because the allegation was being made of an offence some years earlier that it would not be purused. I was about 9 at the time and although I under questioning admitted what had happened to me it was felt that I was too young to go forward and testify.

Roll on to 2007 and I as an adult decided I wanted something done about it. I made a complaint to the guards detailing to the best of my knowledge that the offender had abused others. 3 other cousins came forward at the time and made statements.

The case went off to the DPP who has decided there is not enough evidence. Basically to paraphrase what was said over 2 years after my complaint - each complaint is treated seperately and each complaint boils down to one persons word versus another therefore the DPP in the current economic climate - picking which cases they are sure they can win - feel there is not a strong enough case to proceed with a prosecution.

This is a man who abused 20 kids - who lives among children - who has had 4 seperate people make statements to the guards detailing sexual abuse suffered by him. He is walking because the DPP don't feel it is a sure enough win. I can't accept that there is no case to answer here.

What can I do from here ??? :(

OP it looks like you are looking for legal advice which goes against the rules of this site and the forum charter.

While as I user and a human being I have nothing but sympathy for you please understand that if this discussion goes in certain directions it will be locked/deleted.

I hear where you're coming from and to be honest I'm not looking for legal / professional advice from anyone. I'd love to hear from anyone who had similar experiences or ideas of who or what organisations I could go to from here. I need personal advice not legal and I'd appreciate if people could respect that and not post anything that could lead to the thread being deleted. :)
