Time to get worried about the "Digital Economy Bill"

"The government's plans to punish copyright infringer's are a disproportionate modern-day equivalent of banishment"

Basically a zero tolerance version of the French 3 strikes bill that has been proposed in the UK. Making the account holder of any Internet account responsible for everything that is downloaded.

What worries myself is that allot of this stuff will migrate across the EU similar to other anti terrorism proposals that originated in the UK.

After reading Lawrence Lessig's books, Code, The Future of Ideas, and Free Culture, I'm not one bit surprised by this bill. But laws and social norms have a habit of being broken by many members of the public. "It's wrong to download!" just falls on deafs ear these days.

However, when the architecture of the Internet changes, then yes, we will see a massive shift in regulable behaviour.

Check out thoses book, great reading.
