    hi guys,

could anyone tell me how I would get the radio channel to appear up on the ECU display like the pic shown? I changed the radio in my car recently with an aftermarket radio and now the radio station display does not appear on the display itself. Car is an Audi A4.

    Thanks in advance

As far as I know there's no aftermarket radio that will allow this function.

What is the reason for that? Does it have to be an Audi Radio for this function to work? The display looks very bare without that section missing.

Maybe it needs a cable for this? I'm not being funny but you might get an answer to this on an audi (vag) forum.

The same question was asked here: http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/car-electronics-satnav-i-c-e-multimedia/116482-audi-a4-b7-radio-question.html

    answer was:
If you go after market then you will not get the display to work at all, no 3rd party radio supports the DIS. Also the steering wheel controls will not work with another radio.

Also you will need a facia adaptor.

You may want to consider the Audi RNS-E DVD navigation as an upgrade to the radio as this will give you a 6.5" colour display with DVD navigation, mp3 card capability and integration with the genuine BT prep.

The Audi radios have an amp in the boot for the rears (non -bose) and both front and rears if your car has bose. (speakers will be labelled BOSE). So any 3rd party radio must be configured to use the amp.

The Lidl Bluetooth one. Thought it was at a great price so decided to pick one up. It was a big upgrade to the cassette one I originally had. Little did I know I would have so many issues to solve on its purchase.

the lidil one won't / can't be made to work with either yer display or your controls

there is more details in this thread

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055824216&highlight=alpine

but basically its cheap an easy to get steering controls and harder and fiddly to get the display up

There's no way the Lidl one would have that function

Just wondering could it be configured to work by an Audi technican?

    nope

did you read through the links?

bring that stereo back tell them it dosen't work with yer car cos it has steering controls an get a decent stereo

Fair enough. My car doesnt have steering controls. Just the dash Information display
    .
The only problem is that I have this radio since the first week of January now and I doubt it Lidl will take it back. I dont think they accept things after 28 days of purchase.

Could you suggest a good stereo that would have bluetooth and USB functionality and would also display the radio information on the dashboard for an Audi A4 2000?.

As long as you have the reciept they should take it back. I know someone who took a tv back to them after two years without a reciept and got a replacement, no questions asked.

Now whether you'll get your money back or they'll offer a replacement, i dont know. It'd be worth a try any way.
