BMW 320i 148 BHP or 168 BHP?

In 2007 the 168 BHP 320i (e90) was released - replacing the 148 BHP version.

Looking under the bonnet is it possible to tell which version of the engine is installed?

I'd greatly appreciate any help on this!

you'll probably be looking for a Kw number, the 168Bhp would be around 125Kw the 148Bhp would be around 100Kw or a little less I think.

The 2005-2007 e90s had a 148 BHP unit. According to 'da net' the 168 BHP version came out during 2007...

    Anybody?

The KW thing already mentioned is your best bet. There should be some sort of sticker or notification around the car.

The 168bhp version had efficent dynamics added which means it will have a lower C02 rating than the previous 148bhp version.

I didn't think ED came out until 2008?

Nope, kw (kilowatts) or bhp is the measurement of the engine's power output.

Late 2007 in the 3 Series afaik.

    E90 320i manual from 2005 to mid 2007 without ED has Co2 of 178g/km,
    E90 320i manual from late 2007 with ED has Co2 of 146g/km.

Give me some credit man! I meant the sticker. I've not seen anything like that before?

For some reason I'm having a v. hard time finding info on this...

    Only yanking your chain....

It could be located either on the inside of the doors or fuel filler cap. It should also be listed on the Vehicle Registration Cert if you have access to that.

I thought the lower Co2/km was due to the newer engine having direct injection?

I think everyone has something of the sort in their car. I own a VW and I know its in the boot, but it could be anywhere in your car.

    EDIT:

That was the least helpful post Ive ever typed. And Ive been on forums for years lol
    Sorry hahaha

It should also be on a sticker in your car manual. It will be there in kw.

I think the ED models have a shiny tail pipe and the previous models have a darker tail pipe.

That may just be the diesels though.

Do all the ED models have start/stop technology? Should be a button on the dash with an A in a circle with a / through it to turn off the start/stop.
