Lights in the sky over Waterford

    Hi there
    I'm hoping someone can tell me what the lights in the sky over Waterford this evening were?
    about 30 lights, travelling in convoy across the sky from a Northerly direction (I think!), with no sound.
    A very curious sight I must say.

    I saw the same in Cobh about 4 weeks ago. They are chinese lanterns - if I'm not mistaken, today is the start of the new chinese year, so there werew probably celebrations on somewhere local.

    They freaked me out when I saw them - the first 3 were in a triangular formation and this didn't change as they flew overhead - really weird to see.

    Chinese Lanterns. It is the Chinese new year. Very common.

    It's amazing how common these things are. They're responsible for a huge amount of UFO sightings.
