Ok, It's a bit early for me yet, but I am wondering, If I do not obtain the exact results I need for a certain college course in TCD, will they not let me in?

Also, if I do not get the results in my leaving, is there any other way I can get into TCD without repeating my leaving?

    Btw, its the Drama course.

Also, can someone explain to me what the "Matriculation" exam is?

    Thanks :)

It it's through the CAO, and you do not have the points or subject requirements, you'll automatically not get offered the place, that is unless the points drop in further rounds of the CAO offers.

Seeing as it's a drama course, I'm assuming the matriculation exam would be an audition, and that the points would be a combination of that and your leaving cert. Usually for portfolio courses like art ones, the total points is 1200, 600 for your leaving and 600 for the portfolio. I'd say it would be the same for drama, except with an audition. I'm not entirely sure though, but if you ask your career guidance teacher, or even email the head of the course, they'd be able to give you more concrete information.

How might I go about emailing the head of the course?
Where would I find his/her email?

In the context of TCD, they have a matriculation exam which consists of 2 subjects namely, 1. Geology and 2. Biblical Studies

This exam is optional but if you did it and did well in those subjects you can substitute a good mark in the trinity matriculation exam for a poor subject mark in the leaving cert. The trinity matric results cannot be used for any other college.

'matriculation' can also mean satisfying the minimum entrance requirements for a college (i think)
