Hi all, there is one minor problem with my AK. Its my front sight. When I am looking down my iron sights, the front end is leaning over to the right!

It looks bad, but plays worse. Help please!

    (Will supply pics.)

Its a common enough problem with the clone AKs, the sight assembly is off centre as the hole that the grub screw sits into wasnt drilled straight or is off centre.

If you look at the bottom of the sight, on the underside of the barrel you should see a little grub screw, loosen that and rotae the sight assembly by hand til its straight.
You can fill the hole with chem metal or quicksteel and redrill another hole, with the sight in the righ position, and screw the grub screw back into place.

You shouldnt need to thread the new hole if, the epoxy will get tapped as you tighten the screw.

Is the AKSU built like that though?

If its vfc style build you want to turn the barrel in the trunnion as the front sight is pinned onto that.

Let us know what brand it is, is there a grub screw under the front sight, if not I'll give ye a few tips on rotating the barrel.

I didn't read the title either, its a kalash :D

I'm heading off in a bit so I'll try to explain the procedure.

Take out your hop and gearbox, to do this take off screw on pistol grip, unscrew the the large screw in the fire selector, its a big screw but looks like its not.

Take out plastic yoke holding in hop, push hop forward and out comes gearbox.

Ye should be able to slide the hop and barrel out now just about, I havn't had to in a while so I hope ye don't need to strip down the hop.

Anyway you can see the outer barrel inside the body of the gun, sitting in the trunnion, it has a slot cut out of its top with the barrel walls either side.

If you carefully take a hammer and a punch or some transfer bar you can tap the barrel to rotate it, it will move very little and allows you to straighten it out, I assume the barrel isn't canted off centre too much.

Be careful though, the barrel itself isn't steel, and if its a non full steel AK the trunnion is pot metal too, so be V careful. This is how my kalash came too so I had to straighten it.

Ya don't need to remove any of that as far as i can remember, just tap out the pair of pins in the front end and twist it a little, then hammer them back in., I'm open to correction though, its been a while. :)

Guys, whoops, I said the wrong thing :pac:

I mean the very front sight. Just at the flash suppressor.

Sorry all for getting mixed up D:

Yeah that's connected to the barrel and the barrel needs to be rotated like above. I don't think there's enough play in the sight itself to turn it on the barrel. :)

The barrel can be very tight in the trunnion, what I described is a way to tap it to rotate it in that scenario.

If you can do it by hand all the better, but the barrels can be very solidly set in there.
