Hi ,

Have searched the forum so please forgive me if this has been asked before.My husband is starting a new job in the north next month.I am a sahm,my question is who does my husband contact re credits etc,or how does it work.What is the tax rate in the north?When he was working in the south he could claim ,bin charges,home carers allowance etc.

He will be looking to live up there for 4 days maybe rent a room or studio apt.

Thnks for any help or insight you can offer.

As a UK employee he will be subject to UK PAYE and NIC.

If he spends 183 days or an average of 92 days a year in the UK he will be UK tax resident, and need to complete a UK tax return.

However, he is likely to be treaty resident in Ireland.

He will be taxable in Ireland, but may be entitled to Trans Border Relief.

This is a complex issue, and you should take professional advice.
