    Hi All

Ive just had an interview with Paypal for a job I applied for and was told the hours are 8-6.30

Sounds like a long day to meJ

Im just wondering if anyone has any experience working in paypal- how did ye find the company as a whole and also if these hours are set in stone- ie can you have a shorter lunch and leave earlier
    Thanks

    kk

jesus that is a long day! maybe they mean the shift is that?

Are you sure they're not just the core hours? That would be a 9.5 hour day - 47.5 hours per week! Since the maximum hours you can work per week (on average) is 48 hours, this would be leaving them very little wiggle room for overtime.

They probably mean that you may start as early as 8 and finish as late as 6.30, but you still only do an 8 hour day.

If anyone is currently working there, they can confirm.

The 8-6:30 shift is 4 days a week, with a half an hour lunch, and 2 15 mins breaks.

The building is open from 6am till about half 10. So shift times can be anything from those times.

Most of the shifts in there are 4 day a week shifts.

I'm in one of the few sections who have a 5 day week shift. 8 to 4:30

Don't know about the hours but knew a few people who have worked there and it seems to be an OK place to work (hope that helps, especially if you get offered)

Sounds like an easy week tbh

The four day week sounds pretty good, especially if the four days are running back to back. Best of luck with the new job - I've no doubts you'll get it!

Ah thanks Mr Gardenier- -dont want to run away with myself thinking ill get the joba s i will only be upset if i didnt- appreciate the positiveness-fingers and toes crossed eh

Unearthly- so im guessing the hours would be 8-6.30 mon to thurs and then 3 day weekend ya?? Are they willing to budge on these hours- im doing a post grad in town 2 nights a week starting at 6 so obviously those hours do not suit- would they be willing to comprimise and allow me to work the hours up on the friday maybe??

    Ta

Well the building is open 7 days a week, and I've not come across anyone who has a Monday to Thursday shift. Wednesday to Saturday, and Sunday to Wednesday are the main ones I've heard.

Also from my experience, you get a few options of what shift suits you most when you meet your supervisor.

As for flexible hours, well this would be down to your supervisor, but they seem pretty strict. You can swap days with someone else but not sure if it can be a regular occurance.

Balls those days dont suit at all as ive college sat and sun

Oh well- ill see what they say when they come back to me

    Just my bloody luck eh:)

Kaykay27, if you don't mind me asking, what type of job is going in Paypal?

Are they all foreign language support type openings or is there jobs for English language support?
Admin, tech support or IT based?

Friend of mine works in Paypal where they resolve queries or something like that. Fairly sure he works a 5 day week, starts at 7.30 maybe. He likes it & has been there a few years now. Never ever heard him moaning about work :D

I'm not sure about what types of jobs are open in Paypal, but I know we've been hiring since September in eBay up the road. The jobs are in Top Customer Care supporting both buyers and sellers on a range of topics and are English support. We have another newhire group coming in soon and that will be either the last one or close to it.

It's in their fraud department. I was up for it but had to pull out as I wasn't comfortable with the commitments as they want you to be able to ensure you can stay for a minimum of a year and I'm currently preparing to write a thesis and hopefully sort out PhD applications. It's in English.

    Hi All

Ya the role i also went for was the fraud role- they too asked me about staying for the year and said i was happy to do so- think that went down well
