    Hi dsane1

I have a Whirlpool HDW1011WG Pro Series10 (Heavy Duty Washer, 1100rpm Spin Speed, 10kg Wash Load, LCD Display, 9 Wash Programmes, Variable Spin.

    http://www.electricaldiscountuk.co.uk/itfx_product_details.php?pid=8009&PHPSESSID=8bb66c08d48d7c23be64b0e88691f26d

It is a bit over a year old and was over 1,000 euros, and has just developed a control board fault checked out by a Whirlpool engineer. His quote was a bit steep at 350 euros for the part, but if a board can be got elsewhere for less, I will be selling the machine for about 350 euros, the cost of the PCB board control, that's unless you find a board for less, or find another similar machine with a bust drum with good board for spares, etc.

The big bummer is, that I was offered an extended 8 year warranty for parts at the time of purchase for about 30 euros, and did not get round to filling in the card within the allotted 30 days. B'Jesus, *** @x!!

It seems that Whirlpool are fast gaining a reputation for poor Quality. It seems that since re-organisation, much of their manufacture is now based in Italy. Italian Engineering ???? -Hardly inspires confidence.
You should challenge the original retailer where you bought the machine on the basis of the merchantable quality of their goods they sold you. Your contract to purchase is with them and is your first area of redress. It is reasonable to have an expectation of at least six years troule free service from this machine , regardless of what conditions Whirlpool try to enforce.
Speak to the National consumer council 01 4025500 for advice. Des Mc Cormack is the big Cheese at Whirpool Ireland and can be contacted at 01 6161766. Don't waste your time calling the whirlpool call center.
