Your Favourite/Best Movie Taglines

The little teasing lines of text above the movie's title on the poster... To try and sum up the vibe and tone of the whole movie in one or two sentences... This is the purpose of the tagline; to tease and also to inform.

So what ones are your personal favourite ones or what ones do you think are the best (in terms of impact/intelligence etc.) and give a short explanation why you like them or think they are amongst the best.

I'm going to go for arguably the two best ones and they are also my personal faves while I'm at it:

-Alien: "In space, no one can hear you scream"; instills terror, you can scream and scream in terror but no one will hear or help. Lets the potential audience know that they are not in for a campy/fun sci-fi flick...

-The Fly: "Be afraid. Be very afraid"; 'nuff said really, no? But all the same, as the above, lets the audience know what they are in for. Pure, gruesome horror of the finest order.

    "Kindred"

Had a few different tag lines depending on the release bu the best one.....

"John has a half-brother. Half brother, half something else............"

"He's having the worst day of his life...over, and over..." Groundhog Day - have seen this film so many times, Sonny & Cher singing I got you babe at 06.01 ...there's just no other tag line that fits so well

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... Star Wars.....at the time of release, this was just a magical film...from how the credits rolled at the start, to everything else...great memories..

"Crime is a disease. Meet the cure" Cobra (the whole film dialogue is as cheesy as the tagline- Sylvester Stalone stars...other sayings he has throughout include 'Your the disease, I'm the cure...this is where the law stops, .....and I start...totally crap film but so bad it's good...)

"He's the only kid ever to get into trouble before he was born." Back to the Future ....again, this was pure adventure cinema going at the time...every teenager wanted to be Michael J Fox, and have a time machine...it was so unique

Err, thats a terrible tagline. Makes one of my favorite horrors sound like an all-male, top-shelf kinda film. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I like the long convoluted types,

"Herbert West Has A Very Good Head On His Shoulders... And Another One In A Dish On His Desk"
    Re-Animator (1985)

"Movies were his passion. Women were his inspiration. Angora sweaters were his weakness."
    Ed Wood (1994)

"If Nancy doesn't wake up screaming, she won't wake up at all..."
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

And in horror its not the quality of your movie that counts but the cheesiness of your taglines,

"There's only one thing wrong with the Davis baby: it's alive."
    It's Alive (1974)

"It's not human, and it's got an axe!"
    The Prey (1980)

    "It's cheaper than a chainsaw!"
    The Nail Gun Massacre (1985)

"The good news is your dates are here. The bad news is…they're dead."
    Night of the Creeps (1986)

"You have the right to remain silent. Forever."
    Maniac Cop (1988)

    Deliverance (1972)

Makes Ben Hur look like an epic
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)

The first casualty of war is innocence.
    Platoon (1986)

Bringing back some good memories here! Lots of excellent taglines and teasers.

Just remembered this one from Enemy Of The State: "It's not paranoia when they're really after you"

Really sets it up for the frenetic chases of government agents versus Joe Everyman, in my mind. Also makes the valid point of the people who call/consider him to be paranoid, when They really are after him!
