Places that buy cars with easily fixable problems?

    Hi,
I have a top of the range 03 diesel Laguna estate. It is a lovely car with all extras and has been well looked after but the gearbox is packing it in and making a lot of noise. I want more space and am getting a van. I don’t want to put money I have for the van into fixing it. Main dealer garages are offering around 3,000 - 3,500 on a trade in but their vans are so over priced that I may as well be giving it to them. I have tried a few salvage / scrap places without luck. Are there any places that would buy good cars with easily fixable problems to sell on?

    Thanks in advance!

Try putting it up on adverts.ie and donedeal.ie. Both free if I remember correctly!

Some people might have a problem with this but, just dont tell the dealer when you trade it in.

Its not on the same scale but I had a cracked water pump on a car and I would have told the dealer when trading it in but when I was talking to a mechanic about it he said dont.

He said if you tell them they will knock off far more then it will cost them to fix it ( In my case it could of been 2 or 3 hundred when the pump is 50 euro ).

But having said that it is a gear box so I dont know it is far more expensive, I just thought I would say it.

    Sell it at the auctions.

If you price the car right, you should be able to be as honest about the car as you want because you know your price reflects the car and it's condition.

OP, have you even priced what it would cost to fix vs what the car would be worth fixed?
Subtract one from the other, then put the thing on buy & sell, adverts and donedeal.
