    Hi,

This is my first time on the Motors Forum, I hope this is the right place to post this.

I just published a report into the media coverage the Toyota Recall story has generated online.

This my first time covering an automotive topic, so any feedback, good or bad, on the content, would be appreciated. I hope it's of interest.

    Thanks in advance,

    Stephen

Good topic but your article seems to miss a rotund hypothesis.

Maybe highlight the point you are making?

How about 3-8 bullet points at start of article with the most pertinent facts?

To be fair, the manufacturer is contacting the owners directly and it's quite a simple black and white story. the papers did their bit by highlighting it, but you can't expect them to keep running the same story.
Unless you were living under a rock you'd have heard about the story, or someone you know would have.

Thanks Slideshow, I really appreciate the feedback. Bullet points or a summary of some sort makes sense.

These reports are very much a work in progress, so all this advice will hopefully improve their content going forward.

    No problem.

You are analysing news stories - they have headlines and main points highlighted. If I am looking for info from your own work I don't want to go delving into detail - I may as well go read the original articles. Know what I mean?

The American media are killing Toyota so people buy GM again.

Hi Colm - you're right, the media won't run the story indefinitely, like anything, the audience will eventually lose interest. The report was less about finding anything new in terms of the recall itself - more an aim at showing how the media have tracked it.

That is extremely constructive feedback - I know exactly what you mean. I'll incorporate it into my next report for sure, and let you know when it goes live.

That was definitely the sentiment - and it's backed up by the facts - the frequency of unintended acceleration complaints was approximately 1 in 10,000 out of 20 million Toyotas on the road, or 0.01%.
