Weird issue with Opera - or is it my Mac??

As the title suggests, I use Opera. I am normally very happy with it, but lately, it keeps acting up. It doesn't happen too often (and seemingly randomly), but when it does, only restarting solves the issue. Basically, the titles in all opened tabs will disappear and very weird characters replace normal ones. It happened a second ago, and boards looked like a blog from some kind of secret society until I restarted the browser...

I have googled the problem, but the closest I could find was this which describes a similar problem on Safari. This now makes me wonder if the problem is not Opera but my MacBook Pro... :(

SmartReporter doesn't show any problems, though, and every other application runs fine. The only recently installed software is the Lego Digital Designer, but uninstalling that didn't seem to help.

I use the latest version of Opera on Snow Leopard. Any help is appreciated!

Open up font book, and go to file > validate fonts.

Dunno will it work, but it will do no harm!

Thanks for your reply. Quite a number of duplicates were found, which I have removed. I then did another system check, and this time it found faults, so I went into repair with the startup disk. Two missing threads were reported and recovered, so the repair was successful. I have no idea if that will affect the weird Opera behaviour, and as I cannot reproduce the faults, I guess only time will tell. Just glad now I do my regular backups!

    Anyway, cheers again.
