    Hi Folks,

Looking to do a 2 week trip around the sunny parts of Europe or one of the bigger islands (Malta, Majorca etc) The problem is as a group we like to move around after a few days. InterRailing and Bus's arn't an option we want to consider at the moment.

So on mainland Europe, or any of the major islands, is there any company or local company that will comprehensively insure someone under 21 male or female to drive? Without a massive premium to be paid. Only one driver so multiple drivers etc won't be a problem.

    Many Thanks,

    ironclaw

I've gone interrailing twice in recent years, for about a month at a time, the second time I hired a car for a couple of days in croatia, the minimum age was at least 21, and also I had to pay about an extra 20-30euro per day for the privilege, I also had to have a full driving licence for 2 years or more.

Hiring a car as a young(er) driver is a pain, it gets even worse in Ireland where you cant really get anything at all unless you're over 25. This was a major pain for me recently, when I had just bought my own house and couldn't even hire a self-drive moving van to move into it! (Father's are useful for some things afterall :p)

I would highly recommend interrailing if you can, it's absolutely the best trips I've been on to date, rail services in europe are nothing like here, and it really is a great way to travel.

Thanks for the advice. I was InterRailing last year and it was brilliant. The problem is I prefer to stay coastal and the seaboard of Spain is actually very badly serviced (Barcelona to Marbella is impossible without going through Madrid)

Would really prefer to drive.. :(
