Came off on a patch of diesel this morning (also causing a fellow commuter to crash, if you're reading this, sorry! hope you and your bike are OK between newcastle and clondalkin.
Seemed to be a pretty big spill cos the road was lethal for a quite a stretch.

Does anyone know who I need to contact to get something done?
    Council? Gards?
If there was a car behind us when we came down it could of been a lot worse....

The council should be your first call as they will alert the fire service and the EPA who will alert the Gardai.

    Yep,
just phoned clondalkin gards (not 999!) and they said they'd take a look. Hopefully it'll be fixed by the time I ride home.

think its aylmer road? runs parallel to the peamount road,
leaving newcastle, over half a dozen speed humps past the houses, round a 90 right then 90 left and then another 90 right. Road eventually comes out at castlebagot.
I was behind another guy doing about 30 i think, back wheel suddenly went out and I went down on my right hip and elbow. the "arrrgh" i let out obviously distracted the guy in front and he either braked or something and he went straight down as well.
We kind of limped to the side and even then the road felt really slick underfoot. IM fine, bikes fine, but new bar tape is trashed

Hopefully the gards / council will take a look today, but take care if you are heading back that way.

Thanks Mayan, glad to hear you're ok, it is horrible when that happens. I know that road is usually quiet, who knows where else that diesel will turn up? I'll avoid that area for the moment.

i think that area is covered by South Dublin County Council. They have a specific section for the reporting of spillages, but it mirrors what has been said here already: http://roads.southdublin.ie/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=204&Itemid=243

Or, you could report it at their customer service section, which has a "roads" area, and you can even pinpoint the problem area via their google maps plug in thingy. They have responded fairly promptly to my various grumblings: http://www.sdublincoco.ie/index.aspx?pageid=1279
