Embarrassing Issue

Reg user going unreg for this.

Tonight after a bath I decided to shave/tidy up my private area. I used a "Bic" brand razor like this and now I have a serious itch!

I only did my bikini area and a tiiiiny bit of my "undercarriage" just under my bikini area.

I do have a Boots Bikini hair removal kit, but it is useless, the shaving/hair removal cream doesn't work after I softly pat dried the shaved area I put some of this cream on and it pnly helped a little and then I put a bit of the BBHRK moisturiser cream on and it's helped a little, but not much.

To top it all off, I have my period atm.

I have to go to town tomorrow so I can't exactly start scratching my bits in public.

Can anyone recommend anything to help the itch?

    Cheers.

Maybe consider using an ice cube to help soothe the itching on your skin. After the ice cube consider rubbing some baby lotion into the skin, which might prevent irritation caused by contact with clothes.

You can't stop the itch, it is happening because the hair is growing back. Pubic hair is there for a reason, shaving it increases risk of ingrown hair, it also increases risk of yeast infection and heat rash. That hair is there to wick away moisture from the skin and maintain perineal pH. The only thing you can do is moisturise, keep it clean and dry as you can and wait for the hair to grow back.
When there is a little growth,(even unnoticable by you) the itching will ease.

Also in future maybe consider trying out one of the razors that are advertised for the job. There shape and the design is all about getting the trim you want with as little irritation as possible.

Oh dear Jeebus, you poor girl. How horrific. I'd avoid any heavily scented or cheap creams as it really won't help the itching one bit. Shaving your pubes really really really is not a good idea as it will cause itching and ingrown hairs. All you can do is avoid tight underwear and use something like Sudocreme to help with the itch. Also, really important to regularly exfoliate the area to avoid in-grown hairs and then in a few weeks I'd book yourself in for a wax and leave it to a professional tbh......ouch!

Bepanthen is a barrier cream which may help you also.

Don't scratch it if you can help it at all because it will turn into an unsightly red, bumpy rash. Perhaps just try some ice cubes as suggested, or even get a cloth soaked in cold water and apply to the area for a few minutes. Then I'd say slap on some Sudocream and avoid any scented moisturisers etc.

Cool the itchy area with a cold wash cloth. It can be laid over the area, or used to pat the irritated skin.
Rub the area with an ice cube.
Apply a clear, unscented Vitamin E oil or baby oil.
Apply an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream (this may help with razor burn and little red bumps as well as it stops the swelling in the skin).
    Dust with baby powder.
Use a loofah or an exfoliating mitt, or various exfoliating scrubs available.
Apply cool, pure, unscented and undyed aloe vera gel.
Try a cold bath, it will soothe it a bit.
You can either use Lanacane or Germolene, they both have anaesthetic in them.

Try any or all, hope it helps :D

I did this once when I was young and foolish - though I removed every last hair.:o The itch was truly unbearable, one of the stupidest things I ever did to myself. I suggest you buy yourself some 100% cotton, seam free lady-boxers with long-ish legs, a tub of sudocreme and some soft baby-wipes.

Clean yourself thouroughly with cool water, pat yurself dry and put the sudocreme on liberally. Then wear the boxers making sure that there are no seams or ruffles anywhere near the join between your thigh and pubic area, otherwise it will be extremely irritating when you walk. Carry the sudocreme and babywipes around with you when you are out. When the cream starts to rub off go to a toilet, run off the existing creme and re-apply. When you are at home clean the area with cool water and reapply the cream.

The itching will be gone in a day or two if you can avoid getting a rash. Keep the area clean, dry, use plenty of sudocreme and stick to cotton underwear that stops your irritated skin rubbing of itself. As the hair starts growing back use conditioner on it to stop it getting to stubbly. Once you are passed the itching stage exfoliate to avoid in-grown hairs. In future if you want to groom that area either stick to trimming the hair with a scissors or get it waxed.

Youch! (I'm a male first off!)

I did this before and it was like I had an infestation of fleas or something in my pants! Obviously the female and male anatomy are different but some of the same things applies to pubes I guess. Before shaving a good soak in the bath helps to open up the pores and soften those damned wiry hairs which are much more abrasive than normal hairs.

As you have already done the deed my advice is (from past painful experience) is to shower or bathe daily with particular influence on the crotch. This keeps things clean and helps prevent infection. I used E45 moisturising cream and it helped a little, talcum or baby powder also helps. Having gone totally bald twice and suffered the ants in my pants itch I am not sure if I'd ever again do it! Generally with shaving it becomes like your face and will become a habit of every few days, evenutally the hairs will get used to it and their should be less reactions afterwords. It is in the aftermath of trimming the rainforest and growback that causes the problems, itchy stubble on the ball sack = ITCHY! People around me probably reckoned I'd caught crabs or someit.

Nowadays I trim and the effects are pretty much the same without the nightmarish stubble and associated mess of ingrowing hairs and red trapped folicles getting infected.

You need to get exfoliator, the lumps are ingrown hairs and if you rub exfoliator on it will take away the itching, good luck! P.s if you dont have exfoliator use some sugar with a little bit of oil

    Hey OP,

Yeah been here before... not a good place. Good news is... it'll stop within 3 days. So for right now... what do u do til then. Get yourself some natural tea tree blemish gel (The one I got was made by a company called Thursday Plantation) and it's cheap btw always helps.

I got it in Clerys pharmacy in talbot st dublin 1. (Around the right hand side of the prescriptions counter) thats if ur in dublin!! It's fantastic and natural and safe for the pubic area. It cools the area down completely (Feels great) and will heal the area quickly. You can also try caldesene powder to prevent the area rubbing against underwear. Exfoliate is a very good idea...

I would also use tampons for the moment to prevent any other irritants if u know what I mean... but honestly it'll ease within about 3 days max.

Hope u get it sorted... and yeah waxing is the way to go

I'd be slightly wary of putting Germolene down there, if any of it gets down near your vaginal area or the like it'll probably burn like hell. I'd second the suggestions of giant knickers and bepanthen/sudocream until the itch goes away. I've also heard that taking an aspirin tablet can help with it too.

I think we've all done something nuts like that at one stage or another. I remember back when I was in my teens, I immaced the whole lot off and dear lord the itch was unreal. Luckily, once the hair starts to come through, it should stop. This takes a couple of days though. Watch out for ingrowns too, they can get nasty. If you do want to tidy up down there again, I'd recommend going to a professional waxer if possible. You'll stay smoother for longer, and you won't have the discomfort of the itching either.

Sudocreme... I swear buy the stuff!

    Sudocreme for EVERYTHING!

    op here again...

haven't used germolene/sudocream yet as the itch went away so everything was fine, however today, it is back so am gonna use the sudocream, but I have one question, will it stain my clothes/undies? my mum says sudocream stains clothes (although, she doesn't know why I got it) I have loose knickers, but no boxers.

nowhere in town had lady boxers (only underwear shops, but those are more for "fun" with a partner;)) and the only mens boxers I can find are those loose ones.

also, I didnt say in any of my other posts, but I did my legs and underarms with the razor (before I did my pubes and I washed the razor before I used it anywhere) and now I have some little reds bumps on my legs, the hair has started to grow back, but on the little bumps, the hair is hidden, so Im assuming these are ingrown hairs? no problems with my underarms though...

the bumps on my legs are itch and sore/stingy, so are they ingrown hairs? if they are, is there a way i can fix them without having to go to my doctor.

    thanks

Yeah they are ingrown hairs you need to exfoliate the area and lash on the sudocrem, it wont be long till the hairs grown back and the itching will be gone:)

will exfoliating get rid of the ingrown hairs?

    thanks....

The exfolitor will soften the hair follicle and will take away the pain till the hair grows enough , you could try squeezin them out (thats what i would usually do) its the quickest way to get them out.
