    Well, with all the talk of cutbacks, I thought it be interesting for people to see what happens elsewhere. That said, I'd say this is at the extreme end of the scale. :)

    i dunno... those cuts were pretty hardcore?

    Shutting out street lights? if it gets that bad we may as well give up...

    We don't have these services in the first place, how would we cut back?

    firefighting jobs - volunteers
    a vice team / burglary investigators / beat cops - Half a dozen gardai in the local station afaik
    parks department removed trash cans - there few around anyway, generally stuffed to the brim
    bring their own lawn mowers to local green spaces - never done by council anyway
    recreation centers, indoor and outdoor pools, museums - nope, none
    Busses - only an overpriced, irregular and slow commuter service anyway
    street paving - hah!

    Seems the Irish public sector isn't the only one that's over-paid.
