    Folks,

has anybody used the Guinness storehouse as a party/wedding venue? If so, how did you rate it? Was the food good? Were the staff good ETC.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I was there for a christmas party, and it was amazing!! The food was great, we had a buffet, but it was gorgeous! The best part was the view though! :) I was actually saying while I was there that the Sky Bar would be great for a more casual wedding reception ...

i was there for a 60th birthday party, it was brilliant, there was lifts upto the 2nd or 3rd floor where we were met with waiters with pints of guinness or wine, we had meal in the function room there then up to the 360 degree bar which was stunning with views all around dublin and beyond.
    great venue

I'm interested to hear feedback about this venue too - they mentioned 'supper bowls' as a catering option in the info pack I received...sounds like an interesting idea but would be keen to hear what people thought of them...

I have booked this venue for my wedding in two Months. It is an amazing venue with real wow factor. However the prices are at a wow factor too - and not in a good way. We are having the sit down part of the meal on the 2nd floor in a lovely bright spacious room and then afterwards will go up to the Gravity Bar at the top for the band and DJ - which I am really looking forward to.

I think it is an amazing place, but I have compromised on a lot of basic stuff that all hotels will offer you now just to have the reception there. For example 9 out of 10 hotels will now include evening food, drinks reception on arrival, 4-5 course meal and even wine, but this place is charging for all this and not at cheap prices either. I am only having the very basic stuff - ie - 3 course meal, no evening food, no round of drinks for the toast etc and its costing me more for that, than if I went to a standard hotel and had all the trimmings!!!! They also charge extra for everything, - including microphones, lighting, projectors and even room hire. So when it comes to saving money - this is not the place to go, as there is such amazing value around now.

However in saying all that, - I wasnt into the standard hotel wedding thing and wanted something different, and that is exactly what you get with the Guinness Store House. Also I have heard very good reports about the food and they have also won awards for food and service.

    Hope that helps...

I worked at the christmas kids party and the room was excellent but the venue itself is fantastic. Heres the gravity bar

As you said it is expensive but we were looking for something different & i figure that's what we're paying for. Just wondering was everything as good as you expected on the day, staff, food, service etc...any useful info would be much appreciated. Thanks a mil

I took an Irish rock band there for promotional photography once and wow it is an amazing venue and not one I would have thought of for a wedding before. I am sure it would be a fantastic location both for guests and photographically, I have to say any dealings I had with staff there were enjoyable, they let us do whatever we needed to do and were very courteous at all times.

Let us know what you decide, I would be very interested to hear the details etc. Best of luck.
