For an individual I post quite a bit of stuff (sig probably explains why!) and I have come to hate an Post
Nobody is going to touch them for price on the small stuff (DS etc, even though i still think its a rip off) but I found a new player for the bigger stuff (xboxs etc)

I've only used them once so far and by monday it should be twice.

Just an example, An xbox 360 (console only) costs €15 to standard post and €20 to register (could be wrong, but it is around that)

A courier collection and delivery with wiseloads is only €12.10 inc vat is the same fixed price up to 25kg afaik

What is interesting is that they use DPD couriers, but seem to be cheaper than dealing with DPD them selves

I assume the prices you mentioned are for Ireland, do you know what they're like price-wise for UK?

DPD will charge from under €6 per box upwards depending on the volume.

Obviously wiseloads use their volume pricing to give you a better price, DPD save by only having to invoice one company and probably get paid by direct debit.

If you have a lot to be shipping, I found www.fastway.ie the best by far. €5 ex vat for anything up to 30KG and next day delivery anywhere in Ireland. You can beat that. You need to buy the pre-paid postage labels in bulk for that price but as I say if you have lots to be shipping around the country, you can't beat 'em.

I use DPD and pay 7.00 plus vat per consignment for next day, this is useful where a product comes in more than one box. They also provided me with a printer and import facilty so the label looks professional. As for fastway I left them because of poor attitude and poor service. Fastway also make you use a label per box rather than per consignment.

    Hi,
I hope it's OK to ask here but I've looked online and I can't figure it ...
I'm looking to get a parcel (12kg - about a black binbag size) delivered from Kildare to Mayo. I've checked on both Fastway and DPD ... can anyone help me figure it out please - is the Fastway rate €15+ vat or is it €7.35 + vat? (up to 10per week vs standard user ... what's a 'standard' user?)
Can't figure DPD at all .... do you have to be registered with them or can you send a wonce off delivery?
    Thanks for any help:)

Just to let everyone know, fastway is the only courier anybody should be using for irish delivery, thier service is next to none for efficiency and the way in which the package arrives (the same way as when it left the seller). Now everyone is raving bout DPD, they are in my opinion useless, they are so careless when handling packages it is unreal and if you have something made of glass or with glass in it, they will not delivery it for you as they say they will not take responsibility if it gets broken (this in hand relates to the way they handle the goods...)

Most places won't carry glass or crockery as they can't see how it has been packed. Normally included in terms and conditions as well. I can't blame them, to be honest.

Sorry but my experience tells me otherwise. please tell us you have no connection with fastway?

Perhaps in your next post you could do us the courtesy of using a spell check.

Jumping in again - does anyone know what the story with the fastway rate is?
I've also been trying the wiseloads website but once I get the quote and click next it seems to stall ... is it just me??? Will I get the same rate by phoning them in the morning does anyone know?

Ok so you have no connection with them but if you use them all the time and have never been let down how did it happen that you had a negative experience with DPD?

If you ring you will get the exact same prices.

What browser and OS are you using?

Thanks witness! I figured out the problem - the packet I size I was specifying was too big - adjusted it by an inch and got the €12.10 rate ...yippee!!!! (it's a sack I'm sending so exact size is variable anyways) ... I rang fastway and I don't know how others do business but ... they told me I "had to be a Customer":confused: ...I mean - what about new customers????? ... I didn't even bother to atate the obvious - went with Wiseloads ... hopefully it'll work out OK and if it does there will be a fair bit more business going their way:)
