    Hi all,

Am I too old at 37 to be doing bridesmaid. The bride is my niece, and she will be 29/30 at the wedding.

The only time she was bridesmaid was at my wedding, and this will be only time I will be a bridesmaid.

But I am really paranoid about my age. I really don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb :eek::eek:

Any opinions would be really appreciated.

    Thanks

As far as I know it's illegal to be a bridesmaid outside your 20's.

Yes you can be a bridesmaid in your 30s. You are pretty much around the same age as the bride, and she obviously wants you. ANd the only way you look mutton dressed as lamb, is if the dress is too young: have a word with her, and that should solve that problem!

Of course that's not too old. I'm having three all in their thirties. Get a dress that suits your shape and style and you'll be gorgeous!

I'm going to be a bride at 36  eh I mean 29!

I got an unbelievably fantastic, classic style knee length dress made for my day and even without makeup or hair being done properly I can see I look fab in it. I insisted that I wanted a dress that suited me, my shape and my overall fashion sense. I couldn't bear to wear a traditional wedding dress as I wouldn't feel comfortable in it. Granted other women feel like princesses in them which is great but just not for me.

Try to steer the bride in the direction of a classic style dress that suits you. IMO, but others would disagree, avoid fake tan and complicated upstyles and heavy makeup. Again just IMO these are the three biggest mistakes made by Irish brides and bridesmaids. Simply put, overdoing it.

If you're having fake tan keep it very very light.

I'm sure you look absolutely fantastic for 37 so you want to look like a polished up version of yourself on the day and not like a stereotypical bridesmaid.

one of my bridesmaids was 35, and 9 months pregnant (due date the week after our wedding) at our wedding, so I don't see what the problem is...

    Don't worry, you'll be fabulous!
    :)
