hi folks , recently bought a BMW.Problem is the bootlid is operated from the key and also from a button inside the car , When i press the button either in the car on the key the boot will not open although i can hear something clicking inside the car.

I can still manually open it using the key itself its just an annoyance ,

    thanks for advice

Does the button on the boot itself open it? Do you have any lights on in the dash?
    What type/generation bm is it?

Some of the 3 series have issues with the connectors on the rear lights.

Flick on your walk me home lights and see is one of your tail lights dimmer than the other? If it is this might indicate that one of the connections is burning or fused and can sometimes cause problems with the boot opening, even if this is happening usually ok with the button on the key.

(if connector is burnt/fused be very carefull if you are trying to remove as it easy to break)
