How long to change brakes?

    Hey Guys,
My car (2005 Focus tdci) is in for it's service today. The garage rang me to say I needed front discs, pads and rear pads. Total cost would be £386. Needless to say, I told them I would sort it.
How long would it take (ballpark is fine) to fit these parts?
I can get the parts myself for roughly £100 (possibly even less) and just trying to gauge what I will end up paying, as I have found a garage that charges £30 an hour.

    Thanks in advance.

    To fit breaks?
Did it on a fairly new high end jeep recently.
    Took 1 hour, job complete!

It can take 20 minutes to do each of the front brakes. The rears could take longer if you have drum brakes. The hub nut has to be removed, abs sensor disconnected, wind back tool may be needed for the piston on caliper, brake bleeeding. Could be a 3 hour job then add on the labour costs. Its a bit of work alright, I wouldn't attempt it if I was anyway unsure.

1/2 hour on a front wheel drive Transit. (Fitting pads only) changing disks is a nightmare on this van and involves pullers, heat etc.

Was that including front disks too? I would think its a 2 hour job inc disks. Pads are usually 10 to 20 mins each, not including setting up of tools and clean up after.

I did 4 disks and pad sets in just over one hour, with help.
Helps when you have a lift and works as a team. By myself? Would take twice as long.

Thanks all. I've no idea if the guy works alone, so, if he says any more than three hours I'll reckon he's rippin' it.
    Thanks again.

    edit:
I'm also gonna have to change two tyres before the MOT. Should I put the new tyres on the front or back? (front wheel drive car. Other tyres are 4-5mm)
