The Department of Education wants to cut staff numbers by two-thirds at St Josephs Special Needs school in Balrothery, Tallaght. The first step of that plan is taking place on Thursday. It's a move that has been implemented in a matter of days, not weeks or months, giving the school no opportunity for appeal.

We have organised a protest outside the Department of Education on Marlborough St this Friday at 1pm. Please show your support.

Overall teacher numbers will eventually be reduced from 16 to 6 and Special Needs Assistants are being reduced from 17 to 5. The cuts will simply rip families apart because most pupils at the school are completely dependent on the school and the work of its SNAs.
