I have a Huawei E220 with vodafone prepay. If i want to move to O2 or 3 prepay can i use the same modem or will i have to buy another one?
Can you get 3g sims without a modem?

Seeing as the response was resounding i found this tutorial that unlocks the E220 modem

Problem i now have is that the vodafone software installed on the modem (Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite) wont let me connect as it says i must be on the vodafone network.

Where can i get the o2 software? The link on the o2 websh1te typically does not work http://help.o2online.ie/al/12/4/article.aspx?aid=3569&tab=search&bt=4

You just create a new profile, using the settings in the FAQ at the top of the forum. No need to change the software, as it's all the same, just different branding on them.

No it have vodafone specific software that was restricting it to the vodafone network even though the device itself was sim unlocked.
So i had to install the Huawei Mobile Connect software over the vodafone crap using this: http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/file/download.do?f=20497&ctype=1
(rename it to .zip after download)

I also put on a new firmware that boost the max speed from 3.6mbps to 7.2mbps

So now i have a sim free, network unbranded, speed boosted 3g modem. Thanks to me for all my help :pac:
