changing insurance companies in a month or so. do i have to tell my new insurance company that i have a claim with my previous insurance company or can i just tell them that its my 1st time driving?

Will they find out if i dont tell them?
What are the penalties if any if i lie to them? Will they just not insure me?

the reason i ask is i just simply cant afford my new quote with my current insurance company.

anything i can do any proper advice please.

you have to tell them, if you dont you will be paying for a worthless piece of paper, if caught out you could find it very hard to get quotes in the future as its fraud, to be blunt if you cant insure the car either change it or dont drive, if you hit someone you could and should get jail, its not worth the hassle trying it, to save a few hundred could cost you thousands

HI OP, you may have a better response from more informed posters if you put this in the motors forum. To the best of my knowledge there is no way you can hide your previous insurance history. When changing companies your old insurer is legally required to issue you with a cert detailing your history with them, and the new insurer will require evidence of this.

thats true, but the op wants to tell insurance that its his first time driving, i assume saying he has no experience with another company

Ah ok, well that's different.. I have never heard of that approach, it's ill advised I think.

If you lie about anything when buying insurance, you can be caught out and it will null your policy - and could work out costing multiples of your premium in the event of an accident.

If it's not illegal, then it's at the very least a false economy, and ethically wrong as you may not be able to afford to pay out to injured parties after an accident.

OP: Do not lie when obtaining insurance. If found out, your policy will be null and void, potentially leaving you very exposed.

Lying on an insurance form would be fraud, which is illegal. The OP leaves himself open to legal action, fines, and possibly prison (perhaps unlikely).

As others said, don't do it.
