A principle's a principle: the George Lee Morality Tale or Bertie is always right

This time last year, Greens were supposed to run on their swords at the first sign of compromise on their principles for a bit of stability. Fine Gael and Labour said, well there you go, they're abandoning their ethics so that they can stay in power.
Now, it turns out, that's not true, according to Fine Gael anyway. They say you have to stick with it, do the work, be in it for the long haul and the body blows. I say FG made their bed, now they can lie in it. They created this monster. You live by the sword, you die by the sword. What is the stars, eh?

This is the problem for the down-and-dirty situation we have here, this creation of the Purity of Principle myth, that one can remain clean and sort out a gigantic mound of sh*te that took a decade (or longer) to create: by believing this, we give the power to the same old guard. Lee is so pure, that if he could not be allowed to single-handedly sort out the country, as he so patently could, and everyone would agree with him in his actions, he must not do it at all. And we must cry and gnash our teeth, because we have been denied the Kingdom of Heaven.

Naw, by abandoning ship, nine measly months in, he has changed nothing, will change nothing, and is changing nothing. A wimp, not a superman. But remember, that's what the Greens should have done, resign pretty early and give the jobs to these old boys on the other side riding the white horses. Oh yeah, propping up the dirty FF'ers. This is the whole crux of the thing. The official line is now that Lee was too naive (per Coveney) and that you have to stick with it, lalala. I don't see much of a difference between FF and FG, the one accepted difference is that FG'ers had land and more money (originally); until recently, both had the same number of auctioneer councillors/rezoners. And both parties accept corporate donations. So while others should be lily white by creation of this purity myth (but yet this purity is naivety) others can use Daz and funny handshakes. No hypocrisy here, we're Irish Catholics. Eamo take note, what's in fashion one minute can turn around suddenly and bite you hard.

Bertie was always right. Not only was he right that we want a cuddly socialist (Gilmore) at the head of conservative razorblade policies (FG) but all the egotistical minnows should be immediately given posts, bar 3 black sheep.
