    95kms in 1hr 45mins. That's unbelievable!

Roche and Martin lost a bit of time today on the first stage. I was disappointed to see Vino finishing well up on the stage. Here's hoping he doesn't go and win overall.

I spent some time trying to find Mark Scanlons winning time in Day 1 of the Belfast Dublin Belfast in 2000.

160KM in 3hrs 20 I think. I'm tempted say 3 15, but would really like to find the winning time.
Stunning time, jumped as soon as the neutral section ended. Small bunch, and we were picking up bodies he'd spat off all day. Kenneally stayed most of the way afair.

3:39 was his time which if its about 160km is only 44 kmph or there abouts.

Apparently that stage today was the 2nd fastest road stage ever recorded. The fastest was Stage 9 of the 2001 Vuelta which was raced in similar tail wind assisted conditions at the unfathomable speed of 55 kph.

I made the mistake of entering this race! Still having nightmares about it!

That was a bonkers stage. Great Britain pursuit squad sat on the front of the bunch. They knew there was gonna be a savage tail wind so they stuck 56 tooth chain rings on! At one stage they were clocked doin 55 mph on a flat road!
