Sorry if anyone's posted this before.
I was watching Smackdown the other day and for some reason, something dawned on me about CM Punk. What with his followers, referring to himself as a saviour and to a lesser extent, that big bloody beard, can anybody else see a Charles Manson-esque resemblence to him. I wonder does WWE spot it themselves, because it'd fairly bang out of order if that was their angle.
Maybe I'm looking too much into it but was just wondering if anyone else noticed this too.

    Also CM,eh?

The fact you've only made 98 posts in 5 years is a tragedy

he's going for Jesus rather than Charlie.

Yeah, thats why they had him shave the womans head and stuff a few weeks ago in the Bible Belt (can't remember the exact city). That drew huge heat for Punk.

I'm not sure. I don't actually think they'd have a deeply unpleasant interpretation of the aul J.C. while Linda's contesting the Republican primary. Now Charlie Manson, on the other hand...

Of course, the latter is in much worse taste when you think about it. However, I suspect they're worried about the types of people that don't think so much....

Either way, it's the most genuinely subversive and edgy (as opposed to sexualised) angles that I've seen in many a year.

Yeah exactly what I was thinking.
Yes OP Lita and Punk are dating and I'm not sure of Punk's personal ritual before his segments.
It's not news to most people though.

Actually I think the Manson thing is on purpose. Doesn't Edge even call Punk a cross between Charlie Manson and Brutus Beefcake on Smackdown this week?

I don't see your point there, other than to take a shot at someone with a low post count.
    Please don't do that again.
    Thanks.

He's been called CM punk for at least a decade now, long before his Cult gimmick. When he first came in to ECW as CM Pink, the initials were never explained, just that his only addiction was competition.

Check out Wikipedia, it explains CM merely stands for Chick Magnet. In tribute to a former tag team partnership.

Every time he's asked he gives a different answer. He said it was because he used to be called Cookie Monster too.

the randomness of this thread is inexplicably brilliant.

i dont care who the hell ( nice pun on JC) punk is modelled on once he keeps giving brilliant sermons.

i am already a drinker at the table from bruce springsteen sermons during gigs, surely following 2 religions isnt a bad thing!!:)

Good angle and all but it's not the first time or even the second that this type of angle has been done (A charismatic wrestler "recruiting" others for his cult).

But it is a good angle and I think that Serena's hairstyle looks good. At least you can tell her apart from all the other divas.

Well CM Punk kind of is, I just don't like him. But Undertaker is not charismatic he does his talking in the ring so to speak, I honestly do not think he is charismatic, he is very dodgy on the mic.

I doubt WWE would go with any sort of intended Charles Manson angle, I mean it is a "family show" after all.
