would you write a letter to someone laying your feelings on the line, and in the process bring things up from the past that explain the present, or should these things be done face to face?

Yes, if being face to face makes you freeze up and fail to get your point across. Lay down your feelings, let the other person digest them, then you can have a face to face.

Write it all down for the person - easier for you to say everything you want to say.. that way you can chance things by reading back etc and make sure you are completely comfortable with exactly what you have said.
I didnt the same thing when i was going through a breakup with my ex. I sent him everything i felt in one email because he wouldnt give me the opportunity to say it face to face.

It depends on the situation your in. If you are currently with the person for example - sometimes its better to have a heart to heart in words.. it makes it easier if youve something bad to say.

If its someone from your past - write it down and send it..

    Hi
I think you should write the letter. Keep it to a few short, to-the-point paragraphs and make sure it's well-written... and then consider just saying the content of a letter to the person. If it's really too hard, give them the letter.
