    Hi,

I'm hoping somebody can help me identify a primary school called St. Josephs, somewhere in Ireland. They've put my mobile number on their list of parents, and are blitzing me with text messages (5 so far today). Needless to say my kids don't go to a St. Joseph's and I've phoned the nearest one to me, but they aren't the culprits.

So if anybody can help me figure out where this school is, here's what I have to go on:
    • They seem to have started using an SMS broadcast system in the last week or so.
    • There's somebody on the staff there called P. Finnerty.
    • They are about to trial a new system of directing traffic outside the school at pickup/dropoff times using 6th class kids as traffic wardens (I kid you not).
    • They are painting new lines on the road outside the school this week (and if ever I drive past the godforsaken place, I'll be sure to abide by them!).

    Thanks.

    LH

Found this with a quick google...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

IP2, I bow to your superior googling skills. Several searches I did failed to turn up that page. On closer inspection, I suspect the P Finnerty mentioned was somebody they encountered on a school tour, not a member of staff.

Tried to phone them just now. Of course nobody was there. Will try again tomorrow, but don't have high hopes. Looks like a 2-teacher schoolet, so possibly not in the SMS broadcast league (maybe I'm doing them a dis-service here).

    Thanks anyway.

I work in a St. Joseph's but its not us :) unfortunately for you. Can I recommend you try googling Scoil Naomh Iosaif or Scoil Iosaif Naofa instead of St. Joseph's as this may be the official name of school. Or contact textaparent.ie as this may possibly be the service they are using and they may be able to advise you.

Thanks a123, those are good suggestions. Searching for the Irish names didn't turn up anything, but I've contacted textaparent.ie, so maybe that will yield results.

hope you get it sorted OP, a lot of schools have just signed up to the textaparent system so i'd say there's many kinks to iron out.

    Just RE :

it is a very common scheme that has been around the country for more than 20 years, we had to do it in school and it's actually very good for the school and safer for younger kids crossing the road after school. Teams of 6 senior kids with lollipops and stuff...

It looks like I've finally tracked down the culprits. A school at the opposite end of the country to where I live! They were very nice about it, so I'm not going to do the naming & shaming thing here.

    Thanks to everybody who helped.

If that didn't work out for you, you could also try Adikat.ie they provide the SMS group texting for our school.
