McIlroy had a scan over the weekend that showed he has some nerve damage in his back.

It's not surprising really due to the ferocity of his swing.

Hopefully it isn't too serious but any back problems need to be watched. He may need to limit the number of tournaments or else change his swing slightly.

Maybe he'll be fine in the long term.

That's very unfortunate to have back problems already at such a young age. It definitely has something to do with his early season practice regime; 8 hour sessions? My back is killing me thinking of that. Hopefully his youth and money to get only the best of doctors will pull him through.

I think he said he is going to try his work his schedule around his back problems by trying to not play more than 3 weeks in a row.
And to have himself a rest week, its the last thing he would want is an injury especially so early in to his career.

It's a wonder there's not more injuries like this the way golf has gone, such power being exerted now.Paul Casey's rib injury last year comes to mind.I was just at the range for 45 minutes earlier and feel like I'm falling apart.:(
