It sounds like a rip off but prices over here seem to be. I got married in Austria last September, the price was €400, he stayed an hour longer than he should have at no extra cost, he had the wedding album back to us the following day and he gave us a CD with every photo he had taken on it (300+). The album was decent enough for us not as elaborate as some of the ones I have seen in Ireland. What about tenderme.ie or one of these sites? Everyone is looking for work at the moment. Best of luck with it.

    I personally don't think that's expensive. I would say that's average.

OP, shop around when you're looking for photographers. A reputable experienced innovative photographer will cost in the region of €2-3k. Anyone with a digital camera, a laptop and a printer can call themselves a photographer but if you want quality you'll pay for it. I've seen good wedding photos and I've seen hideous ones that should never see the light of day again.

Look at the photographers portfolio and make sure you're getting quality over quantity. I'm sure there are alot of people chancing their arm with high quotes but it comes down to whether or not their work is worth the price.

You also have to consider what's involved for the photographer; spending an entire day at a venue, hours if not days off site photoshopping, printing off all the photos and buying and making the album.

A cheaper option is to ask for the images on cd or by email and you print them off etc. Most people pay for the album but never collect it. Agreeing there will be no editing and photoshopping could also bring the cost down.

I'm not a photographer btw but it's the same argument as 'the band is quoting me €2k and I can get a dj for €500'. You can always get cheaper but it doesn't necessarily mean comparable or better and no offence to dj's, I'm just using a comparsion of a often used argument.

Thats a standard enough price really. you can get cheaper also more expensive. Dont feel like you have to look only in your locality, plenty of photographers are happy to travel to neighbouring counties for weddings.

The price is obviously the main thing you will be going for but be sure that you are happy with the portfolio and can get along with the photographer also.

You can give me a shout if you want any information on my prices, you will find that most Dublin photographers would be happy enough to go to Meath for a wedding.

We used Niall Fennessy http://www.niallfennessyphotography.com/ and he would have a package that would probably be in your price range I would think. Can't fault him at all. Very professional and a lovely guy. He has done two of our friends weddings since which is a good sign.
